15 (Maybe) Little Known "Star Wars" Facts

  1.  "Star Wars" was not the original title of the film. In early drafts, it was originally "Adventures of Luke Starkiller", as taken from the "Journal of the Whills, Saga I: The Star Wars".

  2. Harrison Ford was paid a mere $10,000 for his performance in "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope".

  3. Many of the buildings constructed to be used in shots of Tatooine are still standing in Tunisia and are used by locals to this day.

  4. You can use Star Wars collectible coins as real money, in one place anyway. The tiny South Pacific island of Niue accepts limited edition Star Wars collectible coins as legal tender.

  5. Chewbacca's voice is an eclectic mix of actual animals. Chewbacca's voice is a mix of bears, walruses, lions, badgers and other dying animals.

  6. David Lynch passed when George Lucas asked him to direct "Return of the Jedi".

  7. Darth Vader (in form, not voice) actor David Prowse, is banned from attending official Star Wars conventions because George Lucas finds him annoying.

  8. Right before he was lowered into the carbonite, Han Solo was supposed to say, "Just remember that because I'll be back," in response to Leia's "I love you.” The line was later changed to "I love you, too." But no one liked Han's response, especially Ford, who improvised the now-immortal "I know." 

  9. The bounty hunter Bossk’s clothing is actually a recycled spacesuit from "Doctor Who".

  10. Lucas originally wanted Orson Welles for Vader's voice but ultimately decided his voice was just too recognizable, later choosing James Earl Jones.

  11. Mark Hamill was in a bad car accident prior to filming "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back", causing severe facial trauma. The scene in which Luke is mauled by a Wampa was added to account for the scarring on his face.

  12. Samuel L. Jackson claims that the words “bad motherfucker” were engraved on the lightsaber he used in the Star Wars films.

  13. On the very first day of shooting took place in Tunisia, or Tatooine, Luke Skywalker's home planet, the country experienced its first major rainstorm in 50 years and a rest day had to be called.

  14. In "The Empire Strikes Back", Yoda's facial features were based on Albert Einstein. Even the wrinkles on Yoda's lip were inspired by Einstein's moustache.

  15. A young David Fincher got his first job on "Return Of The Jedi" as an assistant camera operator. Fincher has since directed such movies as Se7en, Fight Club and The Social Network.
